While my focus is mainly landscape and the beautiful details nature has to offer, I won't pass up an opportunity to shoot wildlife.  I had an absolutely amazing experience last spring in Grand Teton National Park with the expertise of guide Henry Holdsworth of Wild by Nature Gallery.  One of the photos that I took on our last day in the park was recently selected as one of twenty-three finalists in Outdoor Photographer's 2022 wildlife contest.  I am honored to be included in such an amazing collection of photos, which can be found here. 

Grand Teton National Park

One of my favorite sunrise photographs was featured last month in Landscape Photography Magazine's September 2022 issue. I took this photo of the Champlain Bridge from the ruins of the olds fort in Crown Point, overlooking the bridge, with the mountains of Vermont in the background. It was a somewhat overcast morning, but the clouds broke along the horizon, allowing the light of the rising sun the break through and paint the sky. The wonderful orange and pink light, contrasting beautifully against the dark gray of the clouds, reflected nicely off of the lake.

This month's Landscape Photography Magazine includes two of my photographs.

My photograph of Mount Moran reflected in Jackson Lake was selected as a finalist in the pastel assignment.

 

 I took this picture at dawn on my first full day in Grand Teton National Park.  I was shooting wide angle shots of the lake from the beach near Signal Mountain  Campground when I decided to switch to my long lens for a few shots.  I captured this lovely close up of Mount Moran and the beautiful pastel colors of dawn reflected in the lake.    

In addition, the magazine published a photograph I had taken at Harper's Ferry last fall in their Wall of Fame feature.

Dawn is my favorite time of day to shoot. This morning, when I arrived at Harper's Ferry, the Potomac River was shrouded in fog.  As morning wore on, however, the sun began to break through, creating the most amazing atmosphere.

I was fortunate enough to again be selected as a finalist in Landscape Photography Magazine's monthly competition.  The photo I entered in response to the magazine's long lens assignment was one I took last winter of Barnegat Lighthouse at sunset from atop the dunes of Island Beach State Park. There's so much warmth in the photo, looking at it now it's hard to believe it was nearly zero degrees when I took this shot.

I recently began submitting some of my photographs to online photography contests and am flattered to have been selected as a finalist in Landscape Photography Magazine's Island View Contest.  My photo of First Beach on the Olympic Peninsula is one of several entries featured in the May 2022 issue of the magazine. 

The photo I submitted was taken several years ago on a vacation to Washington.  We stayed at an oceanfront property while on the Olympic Peninsula and each evening my husband and I took walks along the beach and enjoyed the beautiful sunsets.
